Frank Duveneck, a native of Covington, Kentucky, is one of America's most-celebrated Impressionists. Like his colleague, William Merritt Chase, he was equally celebrated as a teacher of painting. He and his "Duveneck Boys" painted and etched in Germany and Venice, Italy. Among the "Boys" were John Twachtman, Otto Bacher and Herman Wessel.
