Anita Fenton had a four-decade-long career as an artist, mainly in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in California, but orphaned early and raised by her grandparents in Cincinnati's Avondale neighborhood. She studied in Europe and at the Cincinnati Art Academy and the University of Hawaii with Mexican artist Jean Charlot. She also taught in Hawaii as well as at the Cincinnati academy. She was a member of the Cincinnati Women's Art Club (president), the MacDowell Club, the National League of Pen Women of Ohio (with Caroline Williams), the Ohio Print Makers, the Ohio Watercolor Society, the Professional Artists of Cincinnati and the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
