Louisville photographer John Volair Doll (1906-2001) was an award-winning member of the Louisville Photographic Society. The organization began as a movie-making club, but by the mid-1940s had added still photographers to its roster, John Doll being among the vanguard.

He worked for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Co. as a real-estate agent.

Doll was the son of painter and decorator John Adam Doll, who played a significant role in the Louisville arts community from before the First World War into the 1930s. Doll (1869-1940) exhibited with such well-known artists as Ferdinand Graham Walker, Marvin Eddy, Frank Robbins, Frederick Weygold, J.B. Alberts and Paul Plaschke.
